COMMUNITY SOCIO-ECONOMIC PLANNING

by in Local News, Organisations

Beginning on the 27th September Ballyhoura Development will facilitate a Community Socio-Economic Planning Process in the community of Murroe. This process will take place over a series of 5 meetings (which will be held weekly or bi-weekly) in the Community Centre. The aim of this process is to develop a Community Socio-Economic Plan for the area which will be implemented over the next 3-5 years.

A Community Socio-Economic Plan is a document which includes information such as the history of the area, the history of community groups and clubs, details of existing and historical enterprises in the area, and most importantly it contains a plan of actions for the community to fulfil over the five year period of the plan with support from Ballyhoura Development and other Agencies. These actions generally fall under headings such as Community Infrastructure, Tourism, Health and Care (Elderly & Children), Recreation, Youth, Adult Education etc and will be derived from public discussions during the socio-economic planning process and through consultation with relevant Agencies such as the County Council, H.S.E, V.E.C, Sports Partnership etc.

It is vital that all sectors (groups & individuals) of the community participate in this process. To assist the process all groups/organisations are asked to draft a brief organizational profile (200-300 words including aims /objectives of the group, brief history & any significant achievements). These profiles will feature in the Community Socio-Economic Plan which will be published following this process.

The profiles may be forwarded to Ger O Connor, Ballyhoura Development Ltd, Main St, Kilfinane, Co Limerick. Or they may be sent via email to goconnor@ballyhoura.org. If you require any additional information in relation to the above please contact:
