Update on Status of the Playground

by in Local News, News

Since early December, you might have noticed children in Murroe (and maybe even some parents!) squashing their faces against a fence next to Crokers, gazing longingly at the slides, swings, spinners, climbing frames etc. that are just out of reach on the other side. It seemed like Santa was really out-doing himself in 2010.

Unfortunately Jack Frost conspired to delay the completion of work in time for a Christmas opening. While much of the work is finished, some of the surface covering has yet to be poured. This work requires a temperature of 5 degrees or more, so for the moment we’re waiting for some nice southerly breezes to push the thermometre up a little bit higher…

In the meantime, fundraising has continued and we’re getting closer to our target to pay off all of the playground costs. Thanks to all who have generously donated already - a final push will see us over the line shortly. If you have any spare change that you could drop into the jars in local shops and pubs, that will help. Equally the Credit Union will accept any lodgement you might like to make to the Playground account.

Here’s to many happy years of fun and play in Murroe!
