Ausculta’, the first word,
sets the tone of the Rule;
It means ‘listen’, pay attention,
be conscious and
aware of what is going on around you.
Listening wrenches us out
of the limitations of our own landscape…
calling us to something greater then ourselves…
How pertinent this is for today’s world!
listen to oneself, to others, to the world
to the voice of the spirit….
we need the guidance to find our way
out of the mess we are currently in…
and the voice of the spirit can lead us.
We need to get off the arrogant platform
where we think we know,
where we think we are in control and
listen with the ear that never sleeps.
