When I preach at weddings,
the exasperation is almost tangible
in the congregation…what could he,
a monk, know about marriage.
The author Scott Peck, gave me some confidence.
He claims that monastic life is
the most appropriate model for marriage.
‘The essence of marriage is’, he says,
‘two people gathered for a purpose
higher than the mere pleasure of being together;
namely to enhance each other’s spiritual journey.’
Partners on a journey. Allowing ‘spaces
in your togetherness, letting the winds
of the heavens dance between you’.
